All you need to be able to make your own Christmas crackers!
This craft is great for using materials you might already have at home (list on 2nd picture). You may even find that the only bits you need to buy are the snaps! So keep the kids (and yourself!) entertained during lockdown, save money and waste, and spread a little Christmas cheer by making your own Christmas crackers! Here's how...
Cut the paper into 12” x 8” rectangles. On the back, draw lines across at 2”, 3”, and 4”, and at 8”, 9” and 10”. Fold along these lines to form two points.
Snip triangles in from the folds at 3” and 9”, leaving approximately 1/4” margins. When you unfold you will have rows of diamond shaped holes.
If you’re using plain paper, you may want to decorate your crackers. Feel free to get creative with any rubber stamps, crayons, pens, paints or any other crafty bits you have at home! 😃
Then, use a little paper sticky tape to fix the snap to the back at one end. Roll up your cracker and use a little tape to secure it. Gently pinch in at the folds and tie at one end.
Fill your crackers with fun things such as Christmas jokes and riddles, perhaps a recipe, or some yummy treats! You could even make your own paper hats - or if you have some felt or fabric, why not make reusable ones to enjoy year after year!
Tie up the other end of your cracker and secure the loose end of the snap.
Ta daaa!
Snappy Christmas Everyone! ;-)
